A Church in Mission, is the theme under which the CCE is beginning the year 2011-2012.
This year, our focus will be on the primary function of the Christian Church, the Service.
When talking about the purpose of his coming, Jesus declared: " For even de Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many". I his first portion, Jesus is taking away an idea from his listeners to introduce a new one. His desire was to replace a governing thought which had been leading many people. The Son of Man is not here to be served, but to serve others.
The Gospel writers, when giving their story, described us how Jesus accomplished his mission. He set up an example throughout his life. His service did not ended up by healing someone, a miracle or even resurrecting a loved one. His service ended at the cross. The rest of His story, is nothing else but the results of his service.
His resurrection, the place given by the Father and his upcoming heritage, are the results of his life of Service.
Let's fill us of this thought, the Church has been called for no other reason, but to serve.
